Pamela Anderson Campaigns For Oz Sheep
February, 18 2006
Pamela Anderson Campaigns For Cruel Sheep Farming Ban Animal rights
activist Pamela Anderson is calling upon Australian prime minister John
Howard to ban cruel sheep farming practice.
The former Baywatch babe has joined a global attempt to boycott mulesing,
which involves slicing flesh and wool away from the sheep's rump to
prevent blowflies from laying their eggs in their skin.
The US based animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of
Animals (PETA) deems the procedure unnecessary, but farmers insist it is
an essential part of looking after the animals.
Anderson also condemned the shipping of live sheep on "death ships" to
the Middle East where Muslims slit the animal's jugular vein to drain
their blood before butchering the meat.
